Fading...

by Ruthie   Jun 20, 2006

Slowly watch it fade
color dulls and falls
the spark starts to die
the dark beckons and calls

No more babysitters
no more dinner dates
he sits at the TV
she washes the dirty plates

Day and night now one
screaming part of life
she cries every night
he belittles his wife

We don't laugh anymore
always early to bed
he takes everything
she keeps us fed

Tired and lonely
Too scared to cry out
He won't work now
She's growing stout

Growing up too soon
Trying to forgive
He controls all
She helps others live

There's nothing left
It's all taken away
He keeps it all
She couldn't find a way

It dulled and died
Never to return
This thing called love
will never again burn

It's a sad fact of life. Things and people change, and that's why people should REALLY get to KNOW someone before marriage... if they can!! 5/5 I LOVE your stuff... Now off to read your newest one...
