Does This Darkness Have A Name?

I wrote this poem a little while ago after watching the One Tree Hill episode - "With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept" which is based on a school shooting.

He woke up that one morning
With a different perspective on life
It wasn't a good one, either
Filled with anger, rage and strife

His heart was beating heavily
As he walked the hallway floors
And everyone carried on normally
Clueless to what was in store

The guys were by his locker
Tearing and ripping its remains
His books lay scattered at his feet
As his heart pumped out the pain

He turned around so slowly
And lifted the gun up high
He pulled the trigger tightly
As the air filled up with cries

The school became a panic
There was madness everywhere
Running up and down the halls
And falling up the stairs

He slipped into the nearest room
And found he wasn't alone
Students were hiding from the "shooter"
He had to kid along

But still the teasing came around
Even at the worst possible times
There was no way he could escape it
He had to resort to crimes

So he pulled the gun out so fiercely
And threatened with all his might
He didn't care anymore
He had given up his fight

All he wanted was understanding
For someone to be in his shoes
Someone to stick up for him
Or notice his latest bruise

Would you say he was a monster?
Or is he a victim in disguise?
Did he deserve to be ignored all this time?
Couldn't anyone have heard his cries?

His heart was broken, ripped in two
And he didn't care if he got caught
But he had to end the pain and torture
So he turned the gun and shot

This is the darkness which fills our lives
It's with us all the time
Are you the kid that's always ignored?
Or do you commit the bullying crimes?

What causes all these nightmares?
What causes all this pain?
Can you answer all our questions?
Does this darkness have a name?
