I'm Okay With Me

by Danielle   Jun 23, 2006

You don't have to like me
That's for sure
Because I'm okay with me
I like the way I smile
The sound of my laugh
The tears, they're fine with me
They define me when I'm sad
The anger deep in me
I'm slowly letting it out
Telling the world
I'm okay with me

You can whisper all you want
I'm okay with the lies you tell
I'm standing tall
Taking on all you say
Battling this war you're creating in your mind
Say what you want
I'm okay with me

You don't have to care for me
It's alright by me
I don't need your false pretense
I've got enough of my own
I'm just beginning to understand me
Learning to live with who I am
I don't need you tearing me down
Just to make yourself feel better inside
Go ahead, whisper all you want
I'm okay with me

You don't have to like me
That's okay
I like me the way I am
I like the way I stand in silence
The sound of my voice
I like the way I carry myself
The way I cry
How I speak when I'm leaning into the wind
I like the way I look
Simple and true
Beautiful in my eyes
That's all I need
Too bad you can't see
Everything I'm learning to be

I'm okay with me.
