Chinchillas cannot swim

by Caz   Jun 24, 2006

I'm really kinda lonely now and feeling sort of sad,
Cos honest mate you really were the best pal that I had.
Those little rustly noises when you used to scuttle round,
Would send me drifting off to sleep, a sleep so deep and sound.
Your little eyes were really bright but you were kind of dim,
I thought you'd have the sense to know chinchillas cannot swim.
I blamed myself for quite a while, I couldn't sleep for weeks,
I just kept getting visions of your chubby little cheeks.
I see you now in dreams you know..poised there upon the rim,
Oh God! I wish you'd realized chinchillas cannot swim!
I always put the lid down, very second that I flush,
But I was running late my friend, was really in a rush.
If only I'd have thought to place you straight back in your run,
Right now you'd be upon my lap, my fluffy little one.
Did you mean it? Contemplate it?..Was it just a crazy whim?
I wish I'd told you earlier chinchillas cannot swim!
I've put you in a cardboard box and covered you with stones,
So all the worms and maggots won't all scavenge round your bones.
I said a little prayer for you and yes, I sang a hymn,
Guess you found out the hard way mate.....Chinchillas cannot swim.
