Hold On To Me

by Lyndsay Kalyta   Jun 28, 2006

There you sit
Like every day before
Looking through
This same window
That I am now
It's hard to ignore
This rush of pain
That's creeping over me
I wish I can't see
That you are hurting
I wish I can't see
That God wants you with him,
That He needs you more
Than I need you now
So, when you leave,
When the Lord calls you up
Grandma, please,
Hold on to me
When you are gone
I won't let go
I will be strong
Just for you
And you alone
Remember me,
You'll always be close
To my heart
Where it is safe
In the palm of your hands
Grandma, please
Understand
It's okay to hurt
It's okay to cry
That's why I am
Even though you're still alive
I am just thinking how
My life would be
Without you here
To comfort me
Grandma, listen now
To the words I say
I love you now,
Just like every day
Before,
And I'm sorry
I never told you
that more
I'm sorry I never say
How much you mean to me
Because you mean the world
And I hope you believe
That you're what
Keeps me moving
You pull me through
You're heart is like a magnet
I run straight to you
You are my grandma,
My morning sun
I hope you go peacefully
When you're time is done
I want you to know
How much you mean to me
I love you so,
I hope you see
I will be sad
and I will grieve for you
But I want you to smile
Don't be sad, too
For you are going on
To a better place
You will look down on me
And wipe the tears from my face
So, Hold on to me
when you are gone
For I won't let go,
I will be strong.
