Daddy

by mimzy   Jun 30, 2006

Daddy, my head is hurting
For I slammed it against the wall
You weren't there to do it for me
You weren't there to make me feel so small

Daddy, my arms are bleeding
For I cut them with a glass
You weren't there to throw one at me
Still I sat there waiting for pain to pass

Daddy, my legs are tired
For I've been running all day
You weren't there to beat me down
You weren't there to chase me away

Daddy, I still do all the things I used to
I scream and run, with nowhere to go to
Daddy, your voice still haunts me at night
It reminds me of the pain hidden deep inside

And if you ever come home
You will find your baby in bed
Daddy, she won't wake
Daddy, she's dead..

This poem is heart wrenchingly sad, and though I cannot relate, I feel immense amounts of distress for you. Great work. 5/5

Sometimes I really hate reading depressing poems like these. I forced myself to read this one because it was greatly written. Another great use of repetition to put power in this poem. Great job.

This stanza really stood out to me! Very emotional piece...loved the ending...there was some rhyme there which only made the poem better! Keep up the good work!
