That Was Your Last Goodbye

by kia   Jul 7, 2006

If only you'd listened
I tried to let you know
I was struggling more than ever
I poured my heart out to you
But you wouldn't believe it was true
You didn't take me seriously
You said good bye and left
Not knowing that was the last goodbye you'd ever get to say
You didn't understand when I said
Everything was just too much
You didn't realize I meant it when I said
I'd broken into pieces and I couldn't seem to mend
You didn't know I was crying when I told you
That no one's ever here to wipe away the tears
You didn't even realize when I said I tried to finish it
I really had tried too on more than one occasion
You never noticed that when I laugh on the phone
And type "LOL" when we're chatting
Tears are streaming down my cheeks
You didn't realize as you left
I shattered into pieces
And that I never found my heart
As you went out and left me alone
You didn't know
I slowly sliced my wrists
And let the scarlet tide rinse out of my wilted remains
As the tears cleansed my crushed soul.
Don't you wish your goodbye had been a little better.

Hmmm....not the best...it's okay for what it is but not the best. Liked how there had this emotional current entwined within the lines. Words were chosen for a more emotional impact. Some problems with the flow but yeah...more based for the emotional impact.
