Broken

by Jade Eyes   Jul 15, 2006

Promises were meant to be broken,
And I broke mine.
I promised not to cut again,
But the pressure was too great,
And I gave in.
One small cut here and there,
Easy to cover up with clothes,
So no one will know.
Shame reclaims my heart,
I'd known we were never meant to part.
Broken is my promise,
Broken is me.
Shameful is the way I handled my stress and made my self bleed.
Always peeking over at you,
Afraid that you might know,
Always afraid of looking in the mirror,
Afraid of what I might see.
A broken girl,
Wishing she wasn't leading the life she was,
Always putting on this mask,
Pretending to be okay,
Always helping others to cover up my shame.
Eyes are the gateway to the soul,
My gates are broken.

Wow, you have the same name as one of my poems. Thanks for reading my poem!! Nice job here. The only tip I'll give is that this topic is common, try to be more abstract so it will stand out more. Keep it up
