The Definition of Silence

by DancingForGod   Jul 16, 2006

There's nothing so sweet as the sound of silence...
Waiting...waiting...waiting...

Waiting for a loved one to return
silent with hope
Overwhelmed by a thoughtful gift
silent with joy
Laying in the arms of the love of your life
silent with love

But silence is also deadly...
Death row waiting for that fateful hour
silent with anticipation
Waiting for a judge's sentencing gavel to fall
silent with fear
Desperately trying to hold in your rage
silent with anger

Silence has no true definition
If judged by its contents
it's completely empty, yet filled with anything
an empty vessel
Waiting for something to hold
Always flexible, ever changeable
Silence
