Vows of Love

by LadyPearl   Jul 19, 2006

One speech, one binding from heart to heart
One kiss to hypnotize every delicate thought
Sheer delight in every passionate kiss
Dipping gently into blooming soft bliss

Diamond sparkling like your crystal eyes
A beaming bride within a veil's disguise
Betrothal to a beauty dressed in white
Beguiling everyone who is in definite sight

Slowly caressing her silk hands with my lips
Cupping her face as her headdress slips
Smiling as the words "I Do" flow out
Then crowds behind all scream and shout

Closing in on our sacred forever kiss
Nothing in life will ever be as joyful as this
I make this lasting vow, my vow too
Everything I do now is forever for you

Love is always so cute. just to point out, you seen to have the rhyme scheem a,a,b,b but your first stanza's first two lines don't rhyme. You used very complex, well worked language and described it nicely. Perhaps the ending could have had more power and I haven't been to a wedding but when you say "I do" and kiss do people actually shout? I'm not sure, anyway it was nicely worded, great work keep it up.

Good use of vocab in this write, your vivid and beautiful descriptions painted a lovely marital picture.
In the first stanza, the rhyme of kiss and bliss I found to be very predictable, not good in a poem of this quality.
Also I thought "come out" in the third stanza was poor wording and should be rethought.
I thought the ending was very sweet. Overall, a good and touching write.
