Why?

by Michael   Jul 19, 2006

Every step I take is another rock to climb over
Gradually increasing in size
The pebbles grow into boulders than mountains
It's never guaranteed which one will come next
Soon a river flowing silently yet lightning fast
Reflecting the sunlight and creating a mist
This river I cross and have been dragged into too many times to find my way home
Engulfing my life
I stuggle across the ice cold water
make it to the other side
Only to find what I hoped for
To be non-existant
So I struggle on for nothing
My lead weight feet
Dragging and hope torn
A loud thud
A sharp pain
I stare to the sky
Wondering why I bothered
