Thunder

by Danielle   Jul 27, 2006

Lying frightened in her bed
with shivers down her spine,
lay a little girl named Holly
aged no more than nine.

Her covers pulled tight around her
and her teddy bear clutched to her chest,
a small tear rolls down her cheek
she could not sleep or rest.

Thunder clapping everywhere
and lightning lighting her room
shadows of the tree outside
made scary shapes loom.

Too scared to run to her mother
she lay silent in her bed.
tightly shutting her eyes and picturing,
picnics with her Ted.

But finally her fears were over
as her mother came into her room.
Holly sat up in her bed
she now felt safety and no gloom.

“Its ok now little Holly,
I know for you this is frightening”
now her face lit up so brightly
that a run for its money gave the lightning.
