We Have Forgotten

by JL   Jul 27, 2006

In the misty rain
On a cold, dreary morn
Lost souls wander
Looking for their honor
To believe they did not die
For nothing

Scouring the Earth
Forgotten by loved ones
Sacrificed their lives
For a country
Which gave them no honor

No monuments or walls
To honor their deeds
No proper burials or ceremonies
Laying where they died
Upon the bloodied ground
Corpses decaying

Have we forgotten,
Those souls of our children?
Parents and children haunted
About the fate of their loved ones
No body for comfort
Slowly losing any hope

Who will honor them,
So their souls may rest
Who will pray for them,
To help them move on
Who will remember them,
They need a hero's recognition
To know they did not die in vain...

Heart wrenching words flow through the stanza's, words that hold so much truth .
A message so very clear yet sadly, ignored by many for far to long .
Wonderfully written JL ! A beautiful, compassionate heart behind the words.
