Begging for my sister

by Sorefromreality   Jul 29, 2006

Shrieks of laughter turn to terror
real smiles are now self induced
i can sense tears swelling up when i see you
but they are covered up well

u taught me how to pump my legs
and soar in the backyard sky
you showed me where mom hid the holiday gifts
u sheltered me when grandma died

remember when we used to pretend
that i was your daughter?
you played a mother so well
almost like u were under some sort of spell

you always asked me to show off
for all of your older friends
i did my tricks and gymnastics
until the days end

but all those stories are nothing but memories
and now you are fully grown
trying out jobs and new boyfriends
and making mistakes of your own

but sister you have so much to learn
and these things i wish i could teach
but you shove me and walk away
everytime i begin to preach

I'm telling you to get it together
you have two children of your own
that's two humans to take care of
and i fear my worry shows

mom can't bail you out of this
your debt is overwhelming
but no matter how extreme it gets
your secrets I wont be telling

you used to confide in me everything
i felt like my opinion mattered to you
but now i feel like you're a stranger
i have no idea what you even do

how many jobs have u been fired from now?
i think we're up to four
but I'm not judging you sister
so please get away from the door

i want to take care of you
but you stop all the lies
stop all these mindless hookups
please just look me in the eyes

i can see your youthful soul buried deep
and all your secrets that i am willing to keep
but you must first hear me out
and promise me you won't run or shout

i have your son on my lap
i think he just awoke from his nap
but you wouldn't know about that would you sis?
you barely pause to give him a goodnight kiss

so now I'm left pleading for sanity
on your soul i hope god has mercy
you are going down a road of rage
i want to free you from your cage

don't see me as another psychologist
honestly, its only me here sis
i want back the girl from my childhood days
i want to see that girl that taught me how to pump my legs

Wow...Another excellent poem. It's kind of sad too. I can tell it's a true story...but if it isn't, then you did an amazing job of making it seem like it was true. 5/5
