Memories of Grandma

by Nengirl   Jul 30, 2006

Rice krispy treat memories,

sticky fudge covered fingers,

Sundays at your house,

swimming pools and ducks,

Christmas Eve spent looking for santa clause,

these are the memories i have of you,

not a lot and for that I regret,

but the scent of "old people" in the elevator,

and puzzle pieces scattered in your living room,

or card nights at my house,

the silent sound of your humming,

falling asleep at your toes on sleeping bags,

and drinking coffee as if I were grown,

maybe I was hoping I'd be older and be able to remember more,

spent nights at your house on those orange couch cushions,

clinging onto them anticipating the morning,

never thinking someday you'd be gone,

coloring books and tins of crayons,

the t.v. taped Disney movies that are still in my cabinets,

and your lamb cake for Easter,

my Barbie cake for my 4th Birthday,

the memories still remain,

and even though you're not around anymore,

I'll still think and smile because for me,

these memories make up my childhood,

and without you,

I wouldn't be the same,

so for that I thank you,

for being my grandma.
