So you think 15 is to young?

by Chelsey   Jul 30, 2006

* I went on a missions trip to New Orleans to help those who lost their homes and what not.....There was a specific day that I got picked to pray over 200 cars and I feel God has surely gave me the gift to pray*

Sometimes I get so sick of hearing
All the adults who bring the youth down
Complaining that every child is spoiled and evil spirited
Whining that there is no caring student around

You say well “fifteen year olds are wild
They’re out drinking and smoking with friends”
Let me tell you what I did Friday night
And see if you’ll still try to defend

Cars lined up as early as 2 in the morning
And the actual distribution started at nine
They were ready to get free food and clothes
The cars came by dozens. I lost count down the line

My pastor approached me and looked me in the eyes
Said, “I need someone to pray for every car”
He told me he’d like to start with me
That my smile would shine like a star

So I said a simple “Good morning maim,
Would you mind if I said a simple prayer for you”
She said, “Baby I need all the prayer I can get
And to be honest I’ve only received a few”

I grabbed her hand and fought back the tears
“Dear God we come here and pray
You said when two or three are gathered you’re in the midst
So please answer everything I say”

“I pray Lord God that you return her things
Please help my friend to realize
You said you’d never give us anything we couldn’t handle
Remind her of your love when she starts to cry”

The people that cried would pat my hand
“Thank you baby I’m surely touched
I found my nine-year-old Grandson dead behind a shed
And your prayer has really helped me so much”

So many people told me “great job”
So many people said “what a beautiful prayer”
I looked at them and told them
“Don’t ever doubt that teenagers don’t care”

I had to of prayed for over a hundred cars
1-4 people were in the seats
Some just looking for a bite of food
Or something simple like a twin bed sheet

Later that night we did it again
And about 100 cars had past by
Again I left so many smiling
I made about a dozen families cry

So you think fifteen years old is a bit to young
You think that I have no clue what to say
Well please give me a chance to prove you wrong
Lend me your hand and I will start to pray

We watch this events unfold daily on the news but never know what its really like...never thinking it can happen to us. You have done a beautiful and kind act by dedicating yourself and your time to helping those in need after this terrible natural disaster...God will smile on you always my sis - always :o)

God bless you dear girl! this one is definitely written from the heart and your smile shines through.

You have so much vision at age fifteen - that a lot of people at fifty don't. So, remember if any one puts you down, it's because you have something they don't.

    love and peace

That was very amazing, I'm so happy that God has blessed you with going and helping people, prayer can do so much more than we could ever imagine. And your right I'm tired of the world looking down on kids our age and thinking that we're just like everyone else, that we stand for nothing, and they don't give us a chance to tell them what and who we are living for, they just assume, and I hate that. . .check out this verse in the bible 1timothy 4:12. comment back if you would like and keep fighting to live for Jesus!
