A Pile of Shoes.

by Katie.   Aug 3, 2006

A pile of thousands of shoes.
Who knew what it could represent?
They show the victims of the Holocaust,
The innocents who went through torment.

Over six million Jews were killed,
Along with Russians, gypsies, and others.
All because of one man,
Who wanted to stand higher than his brothers.

That one man was named Hitler.
He was hiding from his past.
He highered his ranks in Germany,
Hurdles he soon surpassed.

Hitler kept on gaining power,
Until he lead them all.
He formed the Nazi Party,
And ordered the Jews to fall.

Hitler wanted a perfect society,
One with absolutely no Jews.
He was obsessed with his dream,
Any objections were refused.

The Fuhrer spread anti-Semitism,
The German\'s hung on his every word,
They didn\'t second-guess him,
They thought that would be absurd.

Everyone followed Hitler\'s lead,
And helped with his \"Final Solution.\"
The hatred and disgust of Jews spread,
As quickly and as horrible as pollution.

In the darkness of night and fog,
Innocent Jews were taken.
Every last one was put on a train,
Nobody was ever forsaken.

Crammed inside small train carts,
Filled with panic and terror.
Nobody knew of their future,
Everyone was scared to make an error.

Finally they would reach their destination,
A camp with jagged and barred fences.
They immediately wanted to leave this place,
They should have listened to their senses.

They would be forced onto cots with many others,
And would be tortured with work all day long.
The guards offered no sympathy,
They had to keep faith and stay strong.

Six million Jews died from these camps.
Over eleven million people in all were killed.
Hitler ordered all of these deaths,
He still didn\'t get what he fulfilled.

Hitler got everyone on his side,
With merely verbal persuasion.
A country desperate for any help,
A country scared of invasion.

Despite this horrible lesson,
We should still learn from the past.
Never let one person so horrible
Cause a destruction so vast.

This is so great. I have never read about the holocaust in such a discriptive way...
