Near but never home

by Deana   Aug 13, 2006

The sky was gray
as the tempest grew near
A distant lighthouse
seemed to hold at bay the fear

A hope of warmth and comfort
just barely out of reach
A tiny ship being tossed to and fro
It could only view the beach

And though safety
seem to beckon and call
The tiny ship began to weaken
as the waves would crash and fall

What had once been strong
for all to see
now gave way to the beating
of a dark and angry sea.

She no longer tried to fight
or struggle to hold her own
Her spirit had been broken
near but never home.
