Time is Passing Us By...

Quickly, oh so quickly
the clock is ticking on
one minute it is midnight
in a second, it is dawn

summer is moving by
as we greet each new day
and soon again, life will start
and we'll all be on our way

off to college, off to school
some in different states
leaving behind the ones at home
as everyone sits and waits

waiting for the next break
waiting for their return
wanting to see their friends again
is the only thing they yearn

time is passing us by
so many people will change
sometimes it makes me wonder...
will anything be the same?

of course everyone will go on
and find their path in life
learn a little, grow some more
and meet new people they like

time is quickly running out
we've just started saying goodbye
so, goodbye to the friends we've made
the crazy times, and summer nights

now, wishing that you could go back
and change things that are wrong
at this point it's starting to seem
that this summer wasn't so long

there are still many things to do
and there's still much to decide
i doubt i'm the only one saying
that time's not on my side
