What happened to Barbie and grocery stores?

by Chelsey   Aug 15, 2006

What happened to the clean looking toys?
That children played with indoors
What happened to healthy foods?
That we no longer see in stores

I remember being a little girl
When everything was all fun and games
When mom would feed me apples and carrots
And my Barbie dolls had one name
I was shopping for my baby cousin
When something caught my eye
Barbie was wearing a mini skirt
And her breasts enlarged in size
She had hooker heels on her feet
And a belly button ring on
They should rename her Britney Spears
Since her innocent look was gone

Perhaps we should go back to the old days
Where children entertained themselves
Since they are taking all these toys
And displaying fake images on the shelves

I went about with shopping
And was shocked even at the grocery store
At how much chemicals are on our food
This won’t make us die old anymore
Just a head of lettuce you bought
Do you know what they wash it in?
Water filled with many chemicals
That can’t be wiped off with a napkin
Ever read the back of the boxes?
That supplies your food?
Those big words can do damage to your brain
It can be the reason that you spewed

Perhaps we should go organic?
And save our body from eating crap
Seems like they try to poison us
And hide it in boxes and wraps

So what happened to the clean looking toys?
That children played with indoors
And what happened to healthy foods?
That we no longer see in stores

A true look down memory lane, for me. You have brought up a few very interesting thoughts. All I can say is...PROGRESS. It has come along and ruined everything good in the world and in our memories.

Damn good message here... You're ever so right. Food is not the same anymore, the toys aren't the same.. hell the kids aren't the same and neither are the parents!! Still... A great write.
