Tragedy Pt. 1(The game)

by glass*wall*prison   Aug 17, 2006

"Are you coming to my game"
a little boy asked with glee,
no one knew today
would end in tragedy.

His mom had pulled a double
working almost non-stop
her sons birthday was next week
she needed money to shop

She got off a little early
and rushed to get to the park
she had promised her son
she'd be there at the start.

The last game of the season
the winner would go to state
the boy didn't care anymore
his mom was running late

She'd never broken a promise
She'd always kept her word
even when it seemed impossible
her faith kept her undeterred

The teams took to the Field
the little boy up to the mound
he was an all-star pitcher
the greatest one in town

Still no sign of his mom
he took one last look around
he did a few lasts stretches
before stepping up to the mound

Now the bottom of the eighth
his mom was still a no show
the boy had pitched a no hitter
with only one more inning to go

the score was tied at zero
the other pitcher faired quite well
he also was pitching a no hitter
time would tell which would prevail

The boy was never a strong hitter
pitching was his game
The teams last at bat for the inning
earned him a Cinderella name

The pitch came low and fast
with everything he had he swung
the ball went flying for the fence
IT WAS A HOME-RUN!

Now the top of the ninth
the boy still going strong
only three strikeouts left
the boy had to stay calm

He struck out two with ease
but the next kid up to the plate
was the best hitter in the league
and with everything at stake

The boy pitched a fast ball
the kid swung with all his might
what looked like a home-run
drifted to far to the right

the boy was now disheartened
as he stood there astound
three balls and two strikes
the spectators made no sound

"Strike three, your out"
the team poured out on the Field
as the put him on there shoulders
the truth was about to be revealed

pt. 2 is going to be sad...be prepared hope you enjoy this one and the next one
