At Her Funeral

by Darien   Aug 18, 2006

At Her Funeral

Silence shatters as the church bells ring
Another night heaven's angels sing
Twelve strokes ended a midnight mass
But women cry for a soul that passed

In her little blue dress covered in flowers
Soon to be buried in a couple of hours
Family and friends mourn her death
No one could recall her one last breath

With her body, buried secrets and lies
Hidden deep behind innocent eyes
Her cause of death was never found
A mystery kept, six feet underground

Hopes and dreams were lost to the world
When death came to take this little girl
At her funeral, family and friends dwell
On stories and memories that people tell

This made me cry. It's amazing. I couldn't help but think of my best friend who was hit by a car outside my house. I watched her die. It reminded me of her funeral. I thank you for giving me another opportunity to think about her. You've inspired me.
