If only...You knew...

by +Fouillis+   Aug 24, 2006

I live for our nights,
just like you do,
when we dance and we cry,
just me and you two.

I love the parties,
just like you girl,
where we laugh and we scream
and we jump and we twirl.

I guess i cant stop you,
coz i love the drink too,
but the times it goes wrong,
if only...you knew...

Coz more than these nights,
more than the drink and the fun,
I love you three most,
when its all said and done.

There\'ve been so many times,
when everythings cool,
we live like we should,
we all act like fools...

The times with the gang,
just the three of us back,
we\'re keepin\' it real,
keeping\' each other on track...

Or the times when we hang,
At a party, you and me,
we drink down the bottles,
just to set ourselves free.

Theres nothing in this world,
that i enjoy more,
than a drink with a mate,
as we stumble through the door.

Late nights, sneakin\' out and grog,
dancing in the cold,
Stacking up the bottles,
just tryin\' to make them hold.

But times change i guess,
when nothing goes right,
lives put in danger,
night after night.

Coz in the last coupla months,
the three who i love,
have all escaped death,
I thank you Lord up above.

The first was no fault,
of this dear friend of mine,
she was out at her party,
could\'ve ended her life.

She put down her drink,
for a split second just,
she made a mistake,
when she picked it back up.

Someone had spiked it,
with what i don\'t know,
But i know that I\'m lucky,
to still have her to show.

The second was different,
theres no one to blame,
\'cept all this confusion,
and the bottle in his claim.

he never woulda done it,
in a sober state,
but he was rolling drunk,
when he came to meet this fate.

He got into the car,
with his mates who were p!ssed,
went out for a drive,
ended up down a cliff.

The third matches the second,
coz she was drunk too,
Sculling southern comfort,
left her with no clue.

She followed him out,
and jumped in the car,
little did she know,
they weren\'t going far.

He told her to hold tight,
they were going to slide,
but it doesn\'t last long,
their down a cliff on their side.

The driver and they,
without death escaped,
But the image still with them,
In their minds eye replayed.

Now just like i said,
i do love to drink,
but not when these three,
put their lives on the brink.

I want one to promise,
that next time shes out,
she holds onto her drinks,
or gives me a shout.

I need the others to tell me,
That the lesson they have learnt,
Never again drive drunk,
coz next time someones gettin\' hurt.

And everyone out there,
Readin\' this story of mine,
know its all true,
and keep it well in mind.

Don\'t ever trust anyone,
when drinkings involved,
\'cept your closest of friends,
whos love you long hold.

Don\'t ever get behind the wheel,
if your gunna drink and drive,
If you do the right thing,
you might save a mate\'s life.

And don\'t jump in the car,
with someone else whos drunk,
you don\'t know what could happen,
to you or one you love...

[Dedicated to the three people that i live and breathe for. Recently, i could\'ve lost them all to alcohol. Don\'t ever leave your drinks unattended and don\'t ever drink and drive, or get into a car with someone who\'s drunk. THESE THINGS DO HAPPEN - Foullis]
