Blind Spot

by Purple   Aug 24, 2006

I hold on tight to this hope.
You can't take it from me
I won't let you
My hope is mine to keep
Not yours to use.
It fills me with calm to think
That there might be some thing more
To think it might turn out good

You can't tell me otherwise
I just don't want to hear
It just has to get better
A repeat of the bad is what I fear
I said it more than once
Explained how I shake at the thought
Which is why I just won't let you touch
The hope that my optimism brought

You can only see a glimpse
Of those hopeless moments I feel
I push them down before they can emerge
It makes it easier to deal
If everyone did like me
Trying to ignore the sharp end of the sword
I wonder what would happen
Would they trap their fingers in the door
A moment's stupidity there to cause a lasting effect
I know I'd smile at the stupidity as I just don't get
How sight fights back when it feels the neglect

(Edit: I deleted the last stanza, which is where the title orginally came from, but I don't feel like changing the title.)

Wow excellent poem. Rhyming was great in parts, the flow was spot on, flawless. I really liked the plot to. Made me get really into it. [5/5]
