A Cruel Truth

The wife of the soldier lays her bouquet down
She turns and leaves the grave
The last thing on her mind was if he was saved
What was he thinking when he realized
He's never coming home
It doesn't matter if you are a sinner
Sometimes good men deserve to die
Pictures of God in the cathedral
Humanity's mistake by clothing him in white
He is actually wearing black

I'm just a simple boy
I'm just waiting for her
Though I must accept
She may never come back

Memories on the wall that I keep
To remind me of worse times
You can see far off in the distance
Pure suffering in a boy
There was nothing really there
No savior came to save him
Nobody cared he died alone
When the people asked why he lived this way
He said good people make other people happy
But he knew it didn't always make him whole

I'm just a stupid boy
I'm just waiting for her
Though I must accept
I may never be complete

Time on this earth doesn't give you respect
All living things must die
The true crime is not the end of life
Only when it happens before their time
Into their hope they march
Point me to the winner they cry
And they'll find themselves falling
I wonder why
If you choose to follow others who are blind
Do so...I don't have time

I'm not a saint
I'm not a hero
Though I do know
I love her
