The Hospital

She had a pretty bad fever
Nothing serious
While she was at the hospital
She found a new friendship

She met him soon after she arrived
His was down the hall
She asked the nurse if there was anyone
Anyone to hang out with at all

She said there was a boy
About sixteen years old
He was the sweetest boy she had met
He had a heart of gold

He had something more serious than her
For what he had there was no answer
He had something pretty severe
It was a form of cancer

She walked down to his room
And they started talking
She asked if he could
Still use his legs for walking

He had to stay in bed
But she could stay there
He was a hard sight to look at
For he had no hair

She soon got out of the hospital
but she went back again
She had to see him a few more times
For he was her best friend

She would talk to him
And he would try to listen
But as he soon began to leave
Her eyes with tears would glisten

She would sit by his bed
And try not to cry
As she sat next to him
Watching him die

It was his last day
This he knew
Everything that he saw
He knew it was true

She was there
He grabbed her hand
I have to tell you something
Please understand

I must leave now
But something you never knew
Is from the very start
I have loved you

She slowly cried
She would never forget that day
For that was the day
Her best friend passed away
