Where the Sunflowers Grow...

by Banana   Aug 31, 2006

Near the bottom of a hill
Souls and bones lie still
Tombstones in the grass
Stay through time's pass
Grieved and unforgotten tears
Slowly stop throughout years...

A cemetery seeming bleak
With flowers grown at peak
It paints a picture of an odd display
As if a war were on a peaceful bay
One tombstone particularly for me
Tears flood my eyes before it, I see...

It is sad and this soul I will miss
But she taught me plenty and this:
Life may be gray on some days
But see it through to brighter ways
And at the end you are free
And peaceful you will be...

At the bottom of this certain hill
Where one soul is hardly still
Her love and presence is always near
And if I need ears to hear me, she is here
And if I need arms to hold me
Or if all I need are wise eyes to see
She eternally rests at this tombstone
Right where the sunflowers grow...
