Loss

by Electric Monkey   Sep 1, 2006

I went to her house just before midnight,
And when I arrived, I saw a light.
It shone out the window, then onto a wall,
But just before the police I did call,
I made the decision to look around
When all of the sudden I heard the sound
Of someone in trouble, I ran to the door
Then I heard something hit the floor.

I looked under the rug and found the key,
And opened the door only to see
Her body lying there lifeless and still.
I became so angry I vowed I would kill
Whoever had done this; he would regret
That he had slain her. I could never forget.
For he had taken the love of my life
And for my sake she endured his strife.

I grew more angry and desperately afraid
When his capture I at last had made.
I turned him in to the police instead.
Though I remembered what I had said
On that night when he killed my friend.
I became so lost until I reached my end.
For I would see her again on that day
when I would go and with her would stay.
