Dry Tears

You all think
I’m so strong
for not crying
in such a situation as this
that I’m so brave
for keeping it together and
supporting everyone else
helping them tough it out
holding them, catching their tears
but no one seems to realize
I’m just as crushed as them
I long to cry with them
but I’ve no tears left
now my sobs are empty without a tear
no wet droplets falling like rain
from my eyes
even though every part of my heart
is screaming for tears
Its not strength or bravery
I’m still crying...
I’m crying dry tears
the worst kind
the kind that fools the world
into thinking your ok
the kind that gives no comfort
and enables you to seek no hope
the kind that leaves you on your knees
begging for death
the kind that rips apart your heart
like acid tearing through your intestines
the kind that gives no mercy
and keeps no prisoners
these are the kind I cry
