The Year Passes By

You don't realize how fast time is,
Until you see it fly.
Each day may feel so slow,
Yet the year just races by.

And sadly in your life,
Not everyone will stay.
The people that mean most to you,
Just drift further away.

And you're already thinking,
Your heart will never mend.
But life just drives you further,
And throws you a new friend.

You know you shouldn't get attached,
But like a puppy in the store,
You cannot help but need it,
And your love deepens even more.

Why do friends stick like magnets,
To the place we call our heart.
If you think it's hard to make them,
It's even harder when you part.

It's not hard to make all friends,
But there's a certain few.
The ones it's hard to live without.
You need them there by you.

How cruel life has to be.
How far it pulls our fate.
It drives you edge to edge,
You always hope it's not too late.

And all those places you'll remember.
And all those days you've spent.
And to each real friend in your life,
A piece of your heart you had lent.

Just think as it gets nearer,
Of all the things that you could loose.
And there's nothing you could do,
Because you weren't meant to chose.

The end of school gets closer.
It comes by way too fast.
By now I'd do 'bout anything,
Just so it could last.

I want to see those faces,
That pass me everyday.
I count on them to be there.
For them I wanna stay.

No matter what you do,
The time keeps zipping by,
It takes you further from your past,
And you can't do anything but cry.
