A Soldier's Sacrifice

by Electric Monkey   Sep 8, 2006

They give their lives to protect ours,
And stay awake for endless hours
To prevent our freedom for forces of evil,
Who wish to harm us our families to kill.

We have memorials, our granite walls.
But how many know who can recall
All the pain and loss so many feel
When their loved ones from them death does steal?

They are family; they are friends.
They go to fight until the end,
When the time comes to give their life
At the force of a bullet or the point of a knife.

We say that we're grateful; I know I am.
But who else is willing to fight and stand
Against the foe in th battle long
When we need a hero who will stand up strong?

They give their lives without hesitation,
Nor take time in battle for contemplation,
Because they know before hey went
That much time in prayer would be spent.

If you see them at all, a group or just one;
Thank them for serving for being the one
We can all be grateful just to know,
A soldier that freedom to the world will show.
