It was your time...

by Brandi Simmons   Sep 15, 2006

I sit here in the dark quiet night,
Thinking of you as I look toward the moon light.
The sound of your voice, your breath on my cheek,
Just the thought of you makes my heart grow weak.

The warmth of your touch and your beautiful smile,
Hoping that you'll stick around for just a little while.
The thought of your face that one last night,
And the way you held me oh, so tight.

The smell of your presence is left behind,
And I can't seem to get you off of my mind.
You told me you'd give me a call later,
Who knew that later would turn out to be never...

When I heard the news I couldn't help but cry,
That was it, I would have to tell you forever good bye.
I still can't believe it's the end,
At your age, your life should just begin.

You're the one I fell in love with, the one I'd do anything for,
But as we all know, I can't do it anymore.
I can't believe that you're gone, why'd you have to go?
The tears keep streaming as my heart grows cold.

God said, "You're through; it is your time,
Come with me son, you must leave them behind."
"You'll be much safer up here with me,
Looking over the world, your friends, and your family."

We all lost a soul mate, a friend, part of the family that day,
As you left us behind and went on your own way.
We all know you're looking down on us from above,
Sharing and caring and spreading your love.
