What Is time ?

by John (Mr. Whuppy)   Sep 15, 2006

What is time is it part of the day
or is it the time that we live in?
What if clocks were not around
what if time had not been found
how long have we been living

what if the sun had refused to shine
what if the moon never rose
would we still worry and stress and fight
if there was no day or night
we wouldnt exist i suppose

Is time 24 hrs a day
or is it measured in years
how long has the world been here
and will it all end in tears

Time is irrelevent don't you see
It always slips away
it's gone in an instant
and never comes back
so to you I say

If it's gone for good over in a flash

If the world one day will burn and crash

If it does not show and it does not care

then maybe it just wasn't there

    John, my man.

Time is one of my favorite concepts. You did the concept and everyone who reads it great justice by writing this. I think about time all the time. And I believe is a worthless measure of change. Thats all it is a man-make measure of change. But through time we Ironically waste it my trying to measure it as opposed to living for the sake of happiness and enjoyment. Thanks a lot John I enjoyed reading this wonderfully penned poem that is very thought provoking.

Although the whole poem was wonderful and got me thinking I really thought this stanza was the best:

what if the sun had refused to shine
what if the moon never rose
would we still worry and stress and fight
if there was no day or night
    we wouldnt exist i suppose

    Loved it, Loved it.

    Wow....You really gave me something
to think about John. I really enjoyed
reading this. You know I have always
had questions about some of the things you've mentioned, and I truley
thought that I was the only one who
thought that way, but it took one of the
worlds amazing poets to point out the
facts to me...lol...Keep up the good
work John, and I hope you do become
    an Assistant Manager because I
    believe you've earned it.

    Love

What you say is so true.

it's really surprising - a lot of what I write is on similar lines too - i wrote one on time a long while ago. it's called "The forgotten clock"

i really enjoy reading your work.

    good luck and peace.

    "time is irrelevant."
    I like you, Mr.Whuppy.
    I'll have to say.
    :)

When I'm 62, in 50 years, I hope I'm something like you. I want to be submitting poems on websites and truthfully declaring that I had a band.
