God Bless my Dad

by John (Mr. Whuppy)   Nov 12, 2006

My house is big and spacious built upon my own land
Near a beach in England the scenery is so grand
My house has many splendors rose garden and a fence
but all the time I stay here I'm feeling rather tense

My father lives in America, West Virginia is his State
he has the merkels cancer which runs a rapid rate
Every time I phone him he tells me he is fine
But we all know he's walking his final line

So in two days time I fly to West Virginia hills
Not to check on him or make sure he takes his pills
But to offer comfort to him and all of my kin
He is a man of God so should free of sin

Since starting this poem My Dad has passed away
But I got to see him along with my three brothers
And three sisters and their families
I shall publish this poem anyway just for my own memories
And to remind me how I felt

John

This is a very touching poem. It is good that you want to keep the memories, because some people wouldn't know how to deal with them. I know how you feel because right now my mother is fighting breast cancer. It's hard, but I deal with it. This poem of yours has actually made me think. At first I was focusing on the worst, but now I can just enjoy the time that we have now. You are magnificent as usual John, it's nice to see a new poem from you. 5/5
