Finally broken

by Josh   Sep 18, 2006

Heres the story, its simple really
Even strong men do not fly freely

When burdened by a mountain such as this
Forged into him with a single first kiss

Dysfunction aplenty when fortune is brought
to hammer the foundation that love had wrought

If heroes are blinded and maidens are dazed
Their magnificent edifice will surely be razed

No statue or garden could cite the story as well
as the eyes of a man who has walked through his hell

In silence he hiked the mountains of pain
to find not reward, but the peak of disdain

where he was stricken by contempt and the shadow of doubt
and implanted with fears no mere man could cast out

The night haunted the day, and the day haunted the next
until the pious and patient man was vexed

and without warning he was thrown from his horse
bloodied and broken, but surviving the force

His blood was splattered, his mind was scattered
he tasted his fear and his heart just shattered

he prayed for sun, he prayed for rain
anything that would end his pain

In a lapse of thought, he pierced his chest
providing his sanity with long due rest

we were all left without even a token
as our champion lay before us, finally broken

He still walks these lands, he cannot be killed
But the hole in his heart remains unfilled
