The Day After

*Father's view* True Story
---------------------------------------

Troubles fought it's way through our lives
Pushing us to separate narrow sides
It was just little things that caught our nerves
But it was enough for our friendship to slide

All I said was to clean your dirty room
He gives me a glare and a tired sigh
He'll be gone tomorrow for some Godly trip
I told him to hurry or No would be my reply

Unsaid words floated around the house
Silence tore at the things we should have done
But the thing we did was both retreat
Only thinking the words, I love you son

The next day came and I slept quietly on
Knowing that he left early this morning
Later that day, sudden news rushed in
A mother screaming, calling and crying

An accident overwhelmed my son's dear life
What pity did dear God have on him
What happened to my beloved boy
Before his young life began to dim

I find a letter in his new cleaned room
In glowing letters it solemnly read,
"I cleaned my room not because I wanted to go,
But because I really loved you dad"

*No matter how mad you are, always apologize and be honest that night because you never know what happens tomorrow. This father regrets everyday not for not telling "I Love You" as his last words.

Very well written. I am truly sorry for you loss. Fear of that happening between my father and I is what made me start talking to him again years ago. I decided I wanted to love him before it was too late.

Noni.. that poem had me in half tears. I almost cried, my eyes were about to as my heart sunk with every word. That was an unbelieveable write. It's tough for the parents to go through something tragic like that. That one really did get to me, and you wrote it so well. Awesome job!
