A Reason To Say \"I Love You\"

by Just Me   Sep 25, 2006

September 11, 2001 -- New York

A morning like any other
cars moving from A to B
friends lingering a moment to say hello
the same old routine
just like yesterday
and the day before that
wake up, shower, get ready
and yet disaster is just at hand
walk out the door
without saying a word
to any one
head towards work
two towers standing tall just in the distance
The sun rising just behind them
go about your morning
until a crash and a violent shaking
disrupt your work
changing your life
Screaming and tears
fill your senses
smoke making your eyes water
run away
is your first reaction
but run where
in a panicked rush
you scurry towards the door
you try to push it open
but it wont budge
and the door feels hot
quickly you look for another exit
theres police and firemen below
and people are running away from the towers
but you
your stuck up here
way up high
looking down
what can you do
the fires spreading
your mind is racing
and then
all you want to do
is go back to your bed
miss work today
spend it with your friends and family
tell them you love them
be there with them
watching this all happen
instead of being in it
and you wish
you could have told them you loved them
just one more time
then a rumbling
and a crashing sound
before you know it your covered
in cement from the ceiling
but wait thats not right
that would mean the tower is...
falling
a sinking sensation fills your heart
what can you do
you run towards the door
now incased in flames
your stuck
in this hell
you watch your life flash by and
once again you wish
you had said I love you
just one more time
then you close your eyes
and cover your head as the building colapses
dirt rubbel
you cant breathe
too much dust
you try to blink away the smoke and dirt
how could you have survived
you cant move
and you feel a puddle forming
beneath your body
what can you do
you silently wish
you had said I love you one last time
slowly you feel your life slipping away
you try to hold on
but sleep is coming
no sleep is bad right
but sleep you must
and before you give in to temptation
you wish you had said I love you
just one last time

*9/11 taught me many things... but it taught me this... every chance you get show the world its loved. EVERY CHANCE YOU GET because it might be your last*
