Empty and Alone

by Electric Monkey   Sep 29, 2006

I kneel down and caress the stone.
The grass is fresh and neatly mown.
The pictures come and flood my mind
Of thoughts of her when she was mine.

We laughed and cried through good and bad.
Now that she's gone, I feel so sad;
I could have stopped her, no cause for this.
We could have lived in wonderful bliss.

She loved me. This I could tell,
And I returned her love as well.
But that one day when her life ceased,
She lives in my heart, though she is deceased

I fall down and embrace the marker
As the tears flow and the world gets darker.
No hand of comfort, no voice to cheer,
No life in her who is counted so dear

I stay for what would seem like hours,
But time passes quickly and fades the flowers,
Which by her grave have gently been laid,
Oh how I wish that she had stayed!

I rise once more, trying to stand,
And think of why. I don't understand
Why she hanged herself and left
Such life and vitality while the others slept.

I gently bend and place a rose
On the tomb of the one; only God knows
Why He took her from me; left me alone.
I once more touch her solid gravestone.

I turn to leave as tears once more
Overcome my eyes; she is no more.
I look again through blurred eyes
At the grave of her who has died.
