Remembered

by BlueDreams   Oct 1, 2006

Dearest darling, delightful, my beautiful Dear:
Why couldn't I tell you... why did I fear?

With lips as red as maple's fall leaves
Hair as golden as tassels of corn
A beauty unmatched, to which my heart cleaves
Love spawned by knowledge, to which I was born.

You came to me out of summer's bright glaze
My life was uplifted, bedeviled and torn
My eyes were enhanced, to pierce through the haze
I thanked my Creator for having me born.

Summer we spent in a riotous fling
Forgotten were cares, woes, and everyday life
Feelings engulfed us, made loving hearts sing
Removed all the worries passion was rife.

We loved and discovered a new "us" each day
Playing while sharing each other's great dreams
Time was abandoned our contentment most gay
But a garment poor knitted falls apart at the seams.

Our parting was pleasant, still loving, but sad
You "needed expansion" to broaden your mind
I was so callow a mere stripling lad
I let you depart without knowing my find.

As I sit and ponder my life now is sere
Our summer remembered with longing and grief
Tears and desiring can't bring you back here
And Time, I've discovered is really a thief!
