The Wounds of Haunting

by Ashes of a Black Rose aka Night Child   Oct 1, 2006

Open wounds appear on my soul
When I think of you
The memories rub in the salt
A reminder of what you put me through

The notion of what used to be
Is nothing short of haunting
Lingering shadows
Hovering above me in a dark cloud

There is no light
Nor am I searching for any
For it is better to be lost in darkness
Than to bask in an artificial glow

In time I will surrender
Death will have another victory to mark
But my regret will follow me to the grave
And into the ground it will seep

Time will pass and you will forget
But in eternal unrest I will remember
You will never escape my mind
And every memory opens a wound
