Daddy's Little Girl

by Jenni   Oct 3, 2006

Take everything I ever had and pick me apart,
stab my chest with a dagger and a dart.
Look me straight in the eyes but don't see a thing.
You can't see the pain you bring.
I'm only fragile like crystal glass,
but you keep treating me like I'm trash.
You don't care, you never did.
Not even when I was a little kid.
I have not one good memory
of what used to be.
Before you split and said goodbye,
Before you hated me and made me cry.
There's nothing I want to gain,
From a man who's driving me insane.
Thank you so much for demolishing my world,
You ruined the chances of having, "Daddy's little girl."

So many children go through this, parents who are there but never really take the time to notice. They live in the same house but might as well be 1000 miles away - great write 5/5

I can really relate to this poem because I too have issues with my father. This poem is excellent and very realistic. My favorite of yours.

Very sad poem. Thank you for the comment on my poem. I have a bunch of father poems, directed towards different kinds of dads. But this was a truly heartfelt piece and you could sense that.
