Life doesn't always work out the way you think

by Bradley Peter   Oct 5, 2006

I was a smart, outstanding boy
You were a troublesome youth
Pure hard work was my biggest joy
You had a half cracked tooth
I achieved, and got the grades
You did not and went to jail
You returned in several shades
And yet it was me whom was to fail

You would be in and out of Pen
I would win awards and find a wife
Things were so much simpler then
And I loved every second of my life
Three kids, a wife and a gorgeous house
There was nothing I'd want more
While you were playing cat and mouse
And always running from the law

You took drugs, traveled the earth
Made love to hundreds of girls
I took interest in my global worth
and bought my wife diamond pearls
Yet after all was said and done
You had grown into a master
You had become the greater son
Whom had triumphed through disaster

My wife had numerous affairs
And devoiced me within a flash
How many men? Who cares
she got the kids and half my cash
You brother, turned into a hero
After a life time of doing wrong
I just became the biggest zero
I guess you were right all along

I felt that the first stanza was weak compared to the rest of the poem, but I did enjoy the flow to it. Good job! Jpoet*

I really really loved dis one cos it had a story to it and maintained the rhythm of the story and poem throughout. Da guy in and out of jail reminded me ov sum1, cos ov da stupidness and half cracked tooth.
Kinda cynical though, in that the giuy who really didn't deserve happiness wins.
