Charades

by Chad P   Oct 5, 2006

This heart shattered tattered and torn
Drawing back and attacking each other
Slinging an endless sea of spears
Those words cutting like a rusty blade
Standing there broken and bleeding
Pointing at pointed fingers
Blaming each other for ruining us
In this charade I've grown numb
Watching you sit there without emotion
Brazen stare as if satisfied
You knew what you were doing
When you gleefully tore out my soul
When you stomped it into oblivion
Then walked away and left me
Yet I laid there wanting more
That rusted knife jabbed in my heart
Meant I got to see that beautiful face
And beg and beg I would and return you did
And the charade starts over new
Fresh hurt piled on and new arrows to sling
Old wounds that couldn\'t heal
Glossed over instead for that while
Stuffed in for that moment of bliss
We both knew it would come to this
Better at tearing each other apart
Better at turning and walking away
We never really could talk it out
Degrade and degrade we end there again
Fresh new pain and wearing new bruises
Wasting no time you stab me again
And pointing elicits pointing back
You cut and cut and I take it all
Till you\'ve drained me of will
And calm numbness settles in
Standing over me gloating at my pain
And still I see the beauty
But this has gone too far to get back to good
Somehow the passion got twisted
The love died and the fog lifted
Seeing now the bitter inside of you
I want nothing more from you
I can no longer take all the blame
Because now you feel only for you
You stopped hearing my cries
But never missed a chance to cut again
My heart in shreds I can take no more
I ask for this one last thing before I go
Please PLEASE let's end this charade
