I Am My Own Person

by Void   Oct 7, 2006

The echoes of your certainty
Makes me feel so fragile.
All the strength you saw in me,
Melts into the water.

The waves of mishapen aspirations,
Looking for the shore.
But the winds of abondoned dreams,
Still wage another war.

Listen to my eyes, they speak
The truth they cannot see.
Just rise to the occasion,
Let me be me.

Your fingers forming letters,
Inside the pages of my life.
Planting seeds that do not fit,
Sharpening my knife.

Wired fences, thick brick wall
These prison gates still stand.
My every climb, could end my fall,
...If you could only understand.

Let the shadowed sun come out,
Have light devour frailty.
Just rise to the occasion
Let me...Be me.
