What went wrong

My wife sits by herself
Wondering whats going wrong
Our marriage was perfect
Before I up and left

Seven months later
I walked though her door
With a smile on my face
But somehow not the same

She doesn’t understand
Why I am the way I am
I am distant and detached
I stare into space and flashback

She wonders what happened
In those months I was gone
What could have been so bad
That could change who I am

I went to war in the middle east
I saw things no one should see
I did things no one should do
It completely changed my mood

I used to laugh at everything
I made jokes to ease the pain
I tried to act like everything was ok
But everyone saw right trough

I died inside over there
I killed people that I never met
I had hatred for people Id never seen
They killed my friends, and I wanted revenge

I returned back to the states
And to my broken home
My wife is right by me
But I still feel alone

The battle goes on
Inside my head
I made it back
But I never left

    But I never left

    That last stanza was like WOW! Personally, I do not like war and I know a man who went there and he used to tell stories and it's just so heartwrenching. Need I say more...Jpoet*

    That is definately the best of yours. Absolutely Amazing. The last stanza, although the shortest, it was the most powerful. It finished it off perfectly. Very excellent write. I'd also like to say thanks for your suggestion for the ending of my poem. It was very good, and i used it instead of mine. I appreciate the time you took for me, thank you. Keep up the great poems, you definately have some talent there! =] 5/5
