Unkept promises

by Daisy if you do   Oct 13, 2006

The tears flow so easily but it's hard to catch my breath,
I thought we'd never part unless it was in death,
Your words cut like razors deep into my flesh,
What did I do wrong? I done my very best,
You say it wasn't me that it was only you,
That you've got so much that you should just think through,
Seems to me the words you said when our love was new,
When you said you loved me and I would say it too,
I guess there's no mistaking, truths won't compromise,
I just can't get over the words you spoke were lies,
You don't know why you bothered to say it from the start,
But you hoped our friendship would never fall apart,
With friends like you that would tell you of untruth,
Who needs enemies when you are so uncouth,
My laugh you'll hear when you're all alone in bed,
Promises you made me resounding in your head,
The memory of my kisses will cause your lack in sleep,
Nightmares of promises you didn't even keep,
They say don't hate the player, just to hate the game,
You never will forget me........
wish I could say the same

I loved the ending to this poem. What was said in your poem resembles to many peoples lives, the words 'i love you' are used way too often these days and most of the time are never meant.
    Another great write.

    5/5
