Mask

by Not just a metaphorical genius   Oct 16, 2006

A pain unexplained, as the hours pass by
Reality made dark, by deceit and one lie
Dying inside, and too numb to feel
Changing the meaning of what was real

Just let go, and let the mask smother
Change from yourself into another
Hide the innocence, the true and the sweet
Embrace the dark, and call yourself beat

The one you loved, is ever dead
The mask is whole, as you once said
You cannot hide the person you are
But you can kill them, with each little scar

A silent murder, perfect to say
Dying slowly with each moment a day
I wonder if, she shall be punished for this
Killing the girl, who no one will miss

Killing the child, that wept while she left
Who took the blame, for her innocence theft,
She looked away, and hid behind doors
But her true feelings, the mask ignores

Is she the one? To stop her mask
To take back her life and nevermore ask
If she can make it, all the way through
But she didnt know, she never knew

I wonder, if her sad tale
Will end with murder, and a tipped scale
She traveled the road, the one made sick
She was just a bomb, with one endless tick

Ready to crack, at the slightest whim
Fighting a fight, she would never win
She renewed the mask, and then she was strong
The fight then there after, was not as long

When she realized her fate, she screamed in pain
But her mask called her weak, stupid and vain
And plotted to kill her, the girl she could be
But the world saw the mask, all they would see

But one boy, changed the whole scheme
He offered her love, and one distant dream
And she jumped for the chance and missed the stage
But her mask waged war, against the boy with rage

He did not run, when her mask became cold
Icy and frigid and love couldnt hold
She tried her hardest to make him hate
The cold mask she was and her cruel fate

He only held the mask closer, and made the girl thrive
Made her live more, and made her alive
But the mask was stronger than they had thought
She was colder, and she wouldnâ??t stop

She wanted to be, the girls face for all time
The lies and the numbness, pretending to be fine
A world of hurt, which she couldnt feel
But the boy hoped to change her, and make her real

Im sad to say, this story ends badly
Even though, the boy tried, and loved her madly
She lied once more, and became her cold mask
An immortal actress was her simple task
