Every now and then

Every now and then
You come drifting into my thoughts
I still have this tender spot for you
Saved in my heart just for you

I have accepted that there is no "us" anymore
I have dealt with all the pain it caused

But I will confess that sometimes when I see you
My heart does a little jump
Sometimes when I am lonely
I go through pictures of the past

And I will admit it still hurts
to think that the great thing we had was lost

I have no regrets, but I cannot live in the past
There is no use spending each day wishing for it all back

Why cause myself more pain than I need?
But yes I admit that every now and then
I let my mind wander back to when "us" was real
