Too late

by Skyler   Feb 11, 2007

I woke-up, rolled out of bed
It was just another Monday

I got dressed, taking my time to look my best
I went downstairs and ate some breakfast
I remember you were shockingly not there

I got my stuff, took the keys
Started the car and backed out the driveway
I swore I looked both ways

I didn't see the semi truck until it was right there
I didn't know what happened until it was too late
I laid there for awhile knowing I would die
I wanted so much to tell you
That Id miss you, I love you and good-bye

Before I knew it there I was
Standing at the gate
And right behind those 2 golden doors
I could see an angel waiting for me

He opened up a big book and spread it out in front of him
And silently paged through it
He glanced at me with a frustrated frown
Then stopped when he found the page he wanted

He looked up at me again
With a tear in his eye and a sad smile on his lips
Telling me I could not pass
Telling me he could not let me through

I bite my lip
I started to cry
I cocouldn'tee where I had gone wrong

The angel silently closed the book
And got up and started to walk away
I tried to call out but he never looked back
