Borrowed Angel

by Suri dawn   Oct 20, 2006

Once upon a time,
a young angel of fifteen,
floated up to heaven.
But he never left unseen.

This angel was given to us,
from heaven as a gift.
We thought he'd stay forever.
All our spirits he did lift.

But all of us here now,
miss this angel terribly.
He left us July first.
He left me crying, on my knees.

That early morning that he left,
I knew something was wrong.
After that dreaded call,
they said he wouldn't last long.

They said there was a car,
that needed to pass by.
He never saw the cliff.
After the fall he flew high.

Why did he have to die,
I hear myself still say.
He's never coming back.
He barely even stayed.

When that car needed to pass,
our angel pulled off to the side.
His tractor fell to the bottom there.
He was dead, with no goodbyes.

I am glad he felt no pain,
for I heard it was quick.
His neck broke. I screamed.
The thought of it makes me sick.

Our little angel of fifteen,
once sat upon a cloud.
But God knew we needed him,
so we borrowed him...'till now.

God picked our angel up,
from the wreck that leaves us scarred.
Our angel now back on that cloud.
We'll love him forever from a far.

Thank-you God for lending this angel,
With love, you watched from the sky.
But I still wish we could have kept him.
It hurts my heart to say goodbye...
